Two Months of Support: How East SOS Supported People Affected by Attacks in February and March
During February and March 2026, the East SOS team, with the support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF), continued providing support to evacuees in Kharkiv and Lozova transit centers, collective sites for internally displaced people, as well as in frontline hromadas (communities) in Kharkiv Oblast.
Over this period, the Foundation’s hotline operators processed 3,635 inquiries. The highest number of evacuation requests came from Donetsk Oblast (Druzhkivka, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk) and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (Synelnykove Raion).

“Among the most common inquiries received via the hotline were evacuation abroad, social transportation, searching for accommodation for families with people with reduced mobility, and evacuation with pets, including cases involving rescuing owners with four dogs and six cats at the same time. We also provided consultations regarding one-time financial assistance for evacuees and handled requests for assistance in rebuilding homes damaged by shelling in Kharkiv Oblast,” said hotline operator Daria Ropatska.
The Foundation’s legal team provided 352 consultations and processed 1,086 inquiries. These included restoring passports and property-related documents and assistance with applications for compensation for destroyed housing. Our team members also supported people in court proceedings and in interactions with state institutions and public authorities.

The social support team assisted with pension-related issues, facilitated access to medical services (including registering with family doctors and undergoing rehabilitation after injuries), and helped obtain necessary certificates.
Social workers and case managers provided 167 consultations and 440 services. In addition, the team supplied assistive rehabilitation equipment to people with reduced mobility. A socialization event was held at the psychosocial and legal support hub “Zatyshno space”, where visitors were informed about the support services, types of assistance, and consultations available at the Kharkiv hub.

The support was provided within the project “Accessible Accommodation and Tailored Support Services for Vulnerable Displaced Persons in Kharkiv Oblast”, implemented with financial support from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF).
Earlier, we reported on evacuation and logistical support provided to people from frontline hromadas.
