East SOS Team Provides Support to Residents Affected by russian Strikes on Zaporizhzhia
Zaporizhzhia remains under daily russian attacks. On June 25-26 alone, russian forces carried out a series of targeted strikes on a parking lot, a petrol station, residential buildings, and railway engines operated by Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia). Tragically, an assistant engine driver was killed.
During the night of June 26, russian terrorists attacked a residential area, injuring three people and damaging private homes and apartment buildings. Later that afternoon, the city was struck again with a missile and drones. As of six in the evening, 15 people had been reported injured, including a nine-year-old boy. Doctors were fighting to save the life of a 45-year-old woman.
The daytime attack also damaged residential buildings, warehouses, office premises, and vehicles. The regional prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into yet another war crime committed by the russian military.
It was also reported that debris from a downed russian drone fell into the courtyard of the regional branch of Ukraine’s public broadcaster, Suspilne Zaporizhzhia, which has now been damaged more than once.
In response to the consequences of the attacks, East SOS sent its team to the affected sites to support local residents. A Foundation psychologist provided 10 consultations.

“The site hit this afternoon had suffered extensive destruction. State Emergency Service firefighters were extinguishing the fire, while some people were receiving medical assistance. One young man told us that his girlfriend had been hospitalized with shrapnel wounds, while he himself had lost hearing in one ear. People were frightened and disoriented, and for some, this was the second time their homes had been damaged. We supported those affected and helped them regain emotional stability,” said psychologist Yuliia Danyliuk.
Those affected also required legal assistance. A Foundation lawyer provided 10 consultations on compensation for damaged property under the e-Recovery (yeVidnovlennia) program and advised people on restoring documents lost.
The East SOS team continues to stand with the people of Zaporizhzhia. If you or your loved ones have been affected, you can contact the psychosocial and legal support hub “Zatyshno Space” in Zaporizhzhia. Address: 3 Pivdennoukrainska Street (opposite Mimmo restaurant, Myru Street stop). Phone: +38 (097) 021 41 53.
Support was provided within the project “Protection and Essential Psychosocial Support for War-Affected Residents in Frontline Areas” (2026-2027) with financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office.
Earlier, the Foundation’s team provided assistance to Kharkiv residents after russian attack.
