Another Way to Be There for People: Thank You to Old Lion Publishing House for Books for Evacuees from Frontline Areas

East SOS sincerely thanks the Old Lion Publishing House for donating books for people evacuated from frontline areas who arrive at the transit center in Zaporizhzhia, as well as for visitors to the Zatyshno space.

When people lose their homes, they often lose more than just their belongings. They leave behind familiar routes, a favourite armchair by the window, a shelf of books, and many other simple things that made everyday life a little more comfortable.

That is why even a single book can sometimes mean much more than just a way to pass the time.

At the transit center in Zaporizhzhia, the books will be available to people who have just escaped danger. They can help them take their minds off what they have experienced, collect their thoughts, and find a moment of calm in a familiar story or favourite genre.

Psychosocial and legal support hubs “Zatyshno space”, the books will offer comfort to children. Through stories and the adventures of their favourite characters, young visitors will be able to better understand their emotions, process difficult experiences, and find answers to questions that matter to them. Sometimes, a fairy tale or a beloved character can explain to a child what adults may struggle to put into words.

We are grateful to the Old Lion Publishing House for supporting our initiative. These books are another expression of care for people who have experienced evacuation. Together, we are creating a space where people can begin to recover after what they have been through.
