East SOS vacancy announcement: Protection Officer (Mykolaiv)

The Charity Foundation “East SOS” has been uniting those committed to Ukraine’s future since 2014. With the onset of russia’s full-scale invasion, we have significantly expanded our efforts to assist and protect as many victims of russian aggression as possible. We operate across government-controlled areas, providing evacuation and accommodation services, renovating shelters and IDP centers, documenting possible war crimes, implementing educational programs, delivering humanitarian aid, conducting monitoring visits, advocating for systemic changes, and offering legal and psychological support. Our regional psychosocial and legal support teams are active in Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv.

We are looking for a Protection Officer:

• Mykolaiv (on-site);
  
• travel to hromadas (communities) and the transit centers for evacuees in Lozova (Kharkiv Oblast), Pavlohrad and Voloske (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast) required;
  
• remuneration discussed during the interview.

Key responsibilities:
1. The East SOS psychosocial and legal support hub “Zatyshno Space”:

• assessing needs and developing tailored support plans for those affected by war;
  
• providing social counseling and conducting group information sessions;
  
• coordinating with the team and social services;
  
• maintaining documentation and preparing reports;
  
• providing counseling to veterans and families of servicemembers, veterans, deceased, captured, or missing persons;

2. Transit centers for evacuees:

• conducting initial consultations with evacuees; 
  
• supporting people in crisis, including providing psychological first aid and accompanying to collective sites;
  
• providing information on available services and resources at the transit center, in the receiving hromada, and through partner organizations;
  
• counseling on social rights, assistance, and relocation options.

3. Emergency response in Mykolaiv:

• providing prompt assistance to people affected by attacks;
  
• responding to crisis situations;
  
• offering psychological first aid and counseling on access to social services.

4. Outreach counseling and training in hromadas of Mykolaiv Oblast:

• conducting outreach visits for information and counseling purposes;
  
• providing social support to beneficiaries in hromadas;
  
• delivering trainings for local actors and partner organisations.

What we expect:

• 2+ years of professional experience;
  
• degree in social work or a related field;
  
• experience working with people affected by trauma or belonging to vulnerable groups;
  
• familiarity with applicable legislation in social work and human rights;
  
• experience working in crisis centers or similar non-governmental organizations is an advantage;
  
• experience in maintaining documentation and preparing reports;
  
• adherence to ethics, confidentiality, and professional conduct;
  
• willingness to participate in trainings, workshops, and supervisions for professional development;
  
• a valid driver’s license is an asset.
