East SOS vacancy announcement: Lawyer (Mykolaiv)
The Charity Foundation “East SOS” has been uniting those committed to Ukraine’s future since 2014. With the onset of russia’s full-scale invasion, we have significantly expanded our efforts to assist and protect as many victims of russian aggression as possible. Our core values are equality, tolerance, and humanity – reflected both in our work and in our team culture.
We operate across government-controlled areas, providing evacuation and accommodation services, renovating shelters and IDP centers, documenting possible war crimes, implementing educational programs, delivering humanitarian aid, conducting monitoring visits, advocating for systemic changes, and offering legal and psychological support. Our regional psychosocial and legal support teams are active in Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv.

We are looking for a Lawyer:
- Mykolaiv (on-site);
- travel to hromadas (communities) in Mykolaiv and Kherson Oblasts;
- trips to transit centers in Pavlohrad and Voloske (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast), as well as Lozova (Kharkiv Oblast);
- remuneration discussed during the interview.
Key responsibilities:
- provision of initial and follow-up legal assistance (consultations, document drafting, beneficiary support) in transit centers for evacuees and in hromadas across the specified regions;
- analysis of beneficiaries’ legal issues and setting up strategies to address individual cases;
- drafting and submission of applications, complaints, requests, claims, and attorney inquiries;
- representation of affected individuals in courts, state authorities, and local self-government bodies;
- assistance in document recovery, creation of qualified electronic signatures (QES), opening bank accounts, submitting applications under the e-Recovery (yeVidnovlennia) program, and to the Register of Damage for Ukraine.
What we expect:
- higher legal education;
- attorney certificate would be considered an asset;
- willingness to travel, including using a personal vehicle would be considered an advantage;
- minimum two (2) years of experience handling individual cases and representing individuals in court;
- experience working with veterans, veterans’ families, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups would be considered an advantage;
- experience in the humanitarian sector would be considered an advantage;
- fluent Ukrainian language skills (English would be considered an advantage);
- understanding of the legal framework governing social protection, housing, family, labor, and administrative law;
- confident use of online services (Diia, Pension Fund portal, Unified Judicial Information and Telecommunication System (UJITS), Automated System of Enforcement Proceedings (ASEP));
- responsibility, ethics, stress resilience, and ability to work with people in crisis.
