Team

East SOS is a dedicated team committed to meeting people’s needs and doing everything possible to help. It is made up of individuals who value the country’s future and every life saved. Our team includes evacuation specialists, call center operators, psychologists, social workers, logisticians, lawyers, managers, documenters, builders, drivers, communication specialists, and advocacy experts.

East SOS holds deep meaning for each of us, yet we are all united by a shared love and respect for people. Despite numerous challenges, we have supported hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, reaching all government-controlled territories. We have witnessed and accomplished so much – none of it would have been possible without our dedicated team, compassionate individuals, partner organizations, and responsible businesses. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to 10 years of impactful assistance.

In 2014, our team launched a call center to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as Crimea. By 2022, we had expanded to accept requests from across the country.

Between 2014 and 2016, our humanitarian team provided essential supplies to those remaining in frontline settlements or fleeing occupation, later shifting focus to systemic community development. With the onset of the full-scale invasion, our organizational capacity grew significantly. Following the relocation of our office to Uzhhorod, we secured new premises and established a packing line for food and hygiene kits.

In response to the full-scale russian invasion, we formed an evacuation team. Today, the Foundation carries out a full cycle of rescue operations—from processing applications to ensuring safe and dignified living conditions for evacuees.

The reconstruction team is carrying out two key projects: restoring war-damaged housing in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions and rebuilding social infrastructure, including geriatric centers, nursing homes, and shelters for people with limited mobility.

The human rights team provides primary legal consultations, secondary legal aid, group information sessions, and roundtable discussions. It also conducts trainings on housing, land, property, social, pension, and labor issues. Additionally, the team collaborates with government agencies, NGOs, and charitable foundations and actively participates in a working group developing recommendations for compensating war-related damage to property, life, and health.

The psychosocial team implements various projects to help stabilize civilians’ mental health. Mobile teams of psychologists and social workers visit remote communities where residents lack direct access to specialists, often due to transportation challenges. Zatyshno Space, a safe space for women and girls, operates in Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kropyvnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv. It provides free psychological, legal, and social assistance, offering protection and support to war victims and survivors of gender-based violence facing difficult life circumstances.

The educational team supports the growth of educational institutions, teachers, and students. Our work includes educator training, psychosocial support, advocacy, fostering civic awareness, monitoring visits, charitable aid, equipment provision, shelter reconstruction, and educational event organization.

Each year, we host the Opinion Festival—an intellectual gathering for engaged Ukrainians. This event brings participants together to exchange ideas, engage with guest speakers, and discuss pressing societal issues.

The documentation team conducts interviews with victims and gathers evidence of war crimes committed by Russian forces against the Ukrainian people, ensuring accountability in international courts.
