The russian occupation means the abduction and destruction of freedom, life, culture and democracy
The russian occupation means the abduction and destruction of freedom, life, culture and democracy. Whenever russia intervenes, individuals are detained on fabricated charges, and activists are subjected to abduction and murder, russia dubs this as “peace.”
On March 9, 2014, members of the Crimean civic association “Ukrainian Cultural Center” openly commemorated Taras Shevchenko’s birthday, an act of protest against the already prohibitive measures imposed by the russian occupation regime to suppress public gatherings.
Numerous protests erupted across the Crimean Peninsula, all aimed at demonstrating the lack of support for russia’s occupation.
During these protests, russian occupation forces abducted and subsequently killed Reshat Ametov, who was participating in a solitary protest at the Council of Ministers building in Crimea. Additionally, the leaders of “Euromaidan Crimea,” Andrii Shchekun and Anatoliy Kovalskyi, were also abducted.
Even after a decade of russian occupation, Crimean protests persist. An underground partisan movement exists in Crimea, its members distributing pro-Ukrainian literature and gathering intelligence on russian military installations for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Despite ten years of occupation, russia has not broken the spirit of the Crimean Tatars, though it has transformed Crimea into a fortified military stronghold, perpetrating mass atrocities against its inhabitants, according to Refat Chubarov, the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
Crimean Tatars are being illegally abducted and convicted for resisting the russian occupation, do not remain silent about it. The aggressors call it “peace”, but in reality they are creating hell on the temporarily occupied Ukrainian land.
Criminals are afraid of justice. Advocate for sanctions and diplomatic pressure against russia.
Crimea is Ukraine!
