On the night of January 21, 2026, while Ukrainians were celebrating Unity Day, russia continued to terrorize peaceful Ukrainian cities. Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Pavlohrad, and Komyshuvakha, a village in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, came under shelling. The evening before, on January 21, the enemy also attacked Zaporizhzhia.

The Zaporizhzhia team of the East SOS Charity Foundation provided support to residents in a private housing sector where 39 homes were damaged in the attack. Our specialists provided 7 psychological and 7 legal consultations.

Among those affected was Larysa, who will continue to receive social and legal assistance from EAST SOS. She has already received new crutches. We helped her contact the public service center to submit an application for compensation for the damage to her home caused by the shelling. We will also assist her in applying for the financial assistance program offered by the city council.

Alina Rodina, a legal expert at EAST SOS stated:

“Many residents in the private sector do not have properly registered property rights for their homes. This complicates, and sometimes even prevents, them from receiving state and city compensation for damaged or destroyed property. We provide consultations to those affected and, if needed, support them in resolving legal matters.”

In Dnipro, the EAST SOS team assisted residents of an apartment building hit by a russian drone. The psychologist, social worker, and lawyer consulted those affected in emergency warming tents, where they and their pets could stay warm.

Our specialists helped people calm down and explained how to apply for compensation for their damaged or destroyed homes. They provided 31 legal consultations, 12 psychological consultations, and 15 social consultations on-site.

Psychologist Nataliia Natina helped those affected stabilize their emotional well-being. She shared the story of a 15-year-old boy who was home with his dog during the attack and was deeply stressed as the drone hit the floor above him.

“Many were left without a roof over their heads. They had no idea whether their homes could be restored. Some didn’t manage to take their documents. You could feel the fear of further attacks. One family, who had only moved here five months ago after shelling in other areas, was now once again in danger,” Nataliya said.
