Swedish photographer joined the evacuation in the Pokrovsk direction
The crews of the “East SOS” Charity Foundation evacuate people from the Pokrovsk direction every day. Niclas Hammarström, a Swedish photographer who has traveled between Sweden and Ukraine more than 15 times since the start of the full-scale invasion, joined the team for the evacuation. He learned about the foundation’s activities from people we have helped.
“I was really touched by how the team we followed gave time to calm and talk to the people they evacuated. Even though it was really stressful situations. They where really respectful and caring,” he shared.
We thank Niclas for his contribution to highlighting the work of the crews and for helping the world see the true consequences of russia’s full-scale invasion through his photographs.
Since February 24, 2022, together with our partners, we have rescued more than 86,000 people from frontline and de-occupied areas, including over 11,200 people with disabilities and members of low-mobility groups.
