Safety of humanitarian teams: take our survey on updating the Minimum Duty of Care Package!
The EAST SOS Charity Foundation calls on Ukrainian and international organizations involved in humanitarian response to take the survey to update the Minimum Duty of Care Package.
The survey is conducted by the Alliance of Ukrainian Civil Society Organizations, the Humanitarian NGO Platform in Ukraine, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine. Experts from ACAPS (Assessment Capacities Project), an independent international analytical initiative, will join the finalization of the report.
Duty of Care is a systematic approach to the safety and well-being of humanitarian workers and volunteers. It covers providing necessary protective equipment, training on safety and first aid, health insurance, and psychological support. Such protection is a necessary condition for the work of teams providing assistance in frontline areas.
The Minimum Duty of Care Package was created in October 2024 to improve safety standards in the humanitarian sphere. Its goal is to define what humanitarian workers and volunteers must be provided with, and to make funding for these needs a mandatory part of humanitarian project budgets.
Over the past two years, challenges have changed, making it necessary to update the Minimum Duty of Care Package taking into account the experience and current needs of teams.
The organizers have already gathered over 60 responses and invite others to join. Your feedback will help determine necessary changes, create safer working conditions, and strengthen the protection of the rights of people involved in humanitarian response.
