Nearly 50 Consultations: East SOS Supports People Affected by russian Attacks in Kharkiv and Dnipro
On September 28, russia once again attacked Ukrainian cities. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and other cities came under attack. In Kharkiv and Dnipro, the East SOS regional teams were at the site alongside people affected by the attacks.
In Kharkiv, the Saltivskyi, Kyivskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts came under attack. In the Saltivskyi district, an apartment building was damaged, with the floor slab between the third and fourth floors destroyed. Forty-three people, including 11 children, sought medical attention.
The East SOS team supported residents at the site after the attack. Psychologists provided 13 consultations and helped people stabilize their emotional state after what they had experienced. Protection officer provided eight consultations, while a lawyer provided 10.
“At the site of the attack, we saw a man sitting alone on a bench, crying and watching as rescuers cleared the rubble of his home. He was in such a state of shock that he could not speak for a long time. Eventually, he told us that he lived alone and had lost his only son in the war. His apartment was badly damaged. The man kept repeating, ‘My life has no meaning,’ and at first refused any social support. But we stayed by his side and gradually helped him regain his emotional stability,” said Psychologist Olena Salatska.
In Dnipro, a russian drone struck an office building. Three people were killed, and another 18 were injured.
East SOS specialists went to the site of the attack to support those affected. A psychologist and a protection officer each provided three consultations, while a lawyer provided four.
