East SOS Team Improves Safety Skills During the Training in Dnipro
Recently, the East SOS team took part in a personal safety training in armed conflict settings organized by the Octopus Security in Dnipro.
The East SOS evacuation team carry out rescue missions in frontline hromadas (communities) on a regular basis, so it is essential for them to regularly practice how to respond to threats and improve their safety skills.
On the first day of the training, participants learned how to identify potential risks during the evacuation of people from frontline hromadas, assess the level of danger, and plan their actions according to the situation. The training also covered the practical side of organizing field missions, from planning routes and communication to making sure all necessary equipment was in place.
The second day was devoted to threat and emergency response. The team learned to identify risks linked to the use of weapons in armed conflict by the enemy and to choose the right protective and response measures. The team also practiced how to act in the event of road accidents, fires, and other critical situations.
“The training was useful for the personal safety of everyone on the team. The material was easy to follow, and the scenarios were very close to real-life situations, including responses to mine-related risks,” said East SOS evacuation worker Roman Buhaiov.
This training became an integral part of the sustematic preparation of the East SOS team for work in high-risk environments.
The training took place within the framework of the project Integrated Comprehensive Support and Protection for Vulnerable Evacuees, implemented by East SOS Charity Foundation with financial support from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF).
Recently, we shared the story of how East SOS educators are bringing support to frontline hromadas.
