🤝 From addressing people’s immediate needs in hromadas to contributing to strategic humanitarian decisions at the national level: specialists from the EAST SOS Charity Foundation have been re-elected as representatives to the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT).

HCT is the highest-level strategic coordination platform for humanitarian response in the country, bringing together representatives of UN agencies, as well as international and national humanitarian organizations. Representatives of civil society and charitable organizations are selected through an election process coordinated by the Humanitarian NGO Platform in Ukraine.

Over the next year, EAST SOS will continue to be represented in the Humanitarian Country Team by Head of Partnerships and Fundraising Department Kseniia Lisna and Board Member, Head of PR and Communications Department Oksana Kuiantseva.

“The daily work of our teams – from evacuation to further follow-up support for those affected by war – allows us to see people’s needs and gaps in humanitarian response. Representation in the HCT will allow advocating for changes and relying on our field experience during the formation of strategic decisions,” noted Ksenia.

🙌 At the regional level, EAST SOS will also contribute to humanitarian response coordination. The Foundation’s Regional Manager Olena Davidova has become Co-Chair of the Humanitarian Operational Coordination Group (HOCG) in Kharkiv Oblast.

HOCGs support coordination of humanitarian response directly at the regional level, strengthening cooperation between humanitarian organizations, authorities, and hromadas. This ensures that people’s current needs and regional challenges are discussed at the national level.

We are grateful to the humanitarian community for its trust. We will continue strengthening the voice of Ukrainian organizations in humanitarian coordination and ensuring that practical experience from hromadas becomes the basis for systemic solutions.

We discuss the challenges of finding accommodation for evacuated older people and people with disabilities here.
