EAST SOS Charity Foundation’s Monitoring and Evaluation Team Takes Part in a Two-Day MEAL Training
The Monitoring and Evaluation team of the EAST SOS Charity Foundation participated in a two-day training on Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) in Kyiv.
Every day, the team collects and analyzes data, tracks project indicators, and provides MEAL support for the Foundation’s projects. They also conduct monitoring of evacuations, as well as conditions in frontline hromadas, collective centers, and inpatient care facilities. Thus, the training provided an opportunity to systematize practical experience and deepen the knowledge that the specialists apply in their daily work.
Over the course of two days, participants worked with logical frameworks, defined expected results and key performance indicators (KPIs), and reviewed approaches to data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Additionally, the team enhanced their knowledge in evaluating project efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability, while practicing skills in formulating evidence-based findings and practical recommendations.
The training was led by Iryna Malysheva, an expert in project and organizational monitoring and evaluation.
“Currently, our team provides MEAL support for 14 of the Foundation’s projects. Behind every indicator are the needs of people, so it is important not only to gather data, but also to understand what works, what needs to be changed, and how to make assistance more effective. The training helped us systematize our experience and expand the toolkit we can apply in our daily work,” noted Maya Kuzmina, Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at EAST SOS Charity Foundation.
The training for the EAST SOS team was organized under the project Strengthening Protection Mechanisms for War-Affected Population, implemented with the support of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and funded by Norway.
