News
19.01.2026

Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), together with the EAST SOS Charity Foundation, evacuated 80 people from areas in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts (regions) where it is no longer possible to live because of constant shelling.

Twenty people with limited mobility were transported to healthcare facilities in Kyiv, Lviv, and Zhytomyr. Another 20 children with their parents were brought to the city of Mukachevo, where they can feel a little safer.

In total, throughout 2025,  Ukrzaliznytsia evacuated 11,000 people from frontline areas. The highest number – 950 people – were evacuated from Donetsk Oblast in August.

The most requested evacuation routes were:

  • Zaporizhzhia – Lviv
  • Pavlohrad – Lviv
  • Kherson – Lviv
  • Shostka – Kyiv

We brought passengers to western regions of Ukraine, where local authorities, volunteers, and humanitarian organizations helped them quickly settle in safe conditions.

We are grateful to every train attendant, driver, dispatcher, volunteer, and partner involved in this vital mission of evacuation transportation.
