Dnipro Under Heavy Attack for the Second Time in a Week
On the night of January 10, 2025, russian occupiers launched drone strikes on Dnipro. According to Mayor Borys Filatov, nearly 400 windows were shattered across nine apartment buildings. Power was cut to more than 50,000 people in the city and the surrounding district.
A 34-year-old man was injured during the attack. The city’s infrastructure was also damaged, including a fire at a garage cooperative where two garages were completely destroyed, 27 others damaged, and several cars burned.
By morning, specialists from the EAST SOS Charity Foundation were on-site to support those affected and help them recover from the experience.
“People were disoriented. They told us that the series of explosions in the middle of the night had frightened them greatly. Many homes, especially those with wooden frames, had windows blown out, and the cold only intensified the feeling of danger and fear. Among those affected are many elderly people. We helped a man with a disability, who has difficulty moving independently, to prepare the necessary paperwork, and we will continue to support him,” said EAST SOS social worker Olena Bosa.
Legal experts provided 60 consultations, social workers –12, and a psychologist –10.
Lawyers assisted with submitting notifications about damaged housing, applications for the eVidnovlennya (eRecovery) program through the Diia app, opening bank accounts, obtaining certificates of no criminal record, and guidance on inheritance procedures.
Social workers guided residents on registering property in the State Property Rights Register, and the psychologist helped people cope with acute stress, offering support to stabilize their emotional state after the attack.
