Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation helped Ukrzaliznytsia set up railway station heating stations
During the 2022-2023 heating season, the Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation handed over generators and heating equipment to shelter homes, hospitals, kindergartens and critical infrastructure enterprises.
Ukrzaliznytsia provides almost half of the country’s passenger transportation. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, its trains and employees have helped to evacuate millions of Ukrainians from dangerous regions and transport tens of thousands of tons of humanitarian aid.
In the autumn of 2022, there was a lack of heating and electricity at train stations caused by missile strikes from the russian federation.
At the end of last year, the Vostok SOS team responded to a request for help. We ensured that people stayed warm in case of long train delays during the blackouts.
This year, in February and March, the Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation delivered the supplies to 8 railway stations:
- 10 sets of tents
- 20 generators
- 20 electric heaters
The assistance was provided to railway stations in Kyiv (3 sets of tents for 3 heaiting stations), Darnytsia, Myronivka, Zhytomyr, Korosten, Hrebinka, Chernihiv, and Nizhyn. Each warming station can accommodate up to 50 people and has gadget charging facilities. As a result, the stations could finish the heating season without any problems and prepare for the next one.
The aid provided is intended for a long-term use during the coming cold seasons.
The charitable aid was purchased as part of the project “Providing socially vulnerable groups with heating means for the winter period” with the support of the TIDES Foundation.
