A Safer Journey for Pets: Pethouse Donates 200 Cardboard Carriers for Animal Evacuation
Evacuations are stressful for everyone, including pets. Exposure to loud noises, transportation stress, and sudden changes in their environment, as well as the general tension can be highly overwhelming for pets. They may refuse to eat, start to tremble, hide or, on the other hand, cling constantly to their owners.
“Prolonged stress affects a pet’s emotional well-being and physical health. It can trigger flare-ups of chronic diseases, cause digestive or heart issues, and generally weaken the animal. That’s why helping pets feel safe and calm during evacuation is so important,” explains EAST SOS Executive Director and veterinarian Kateryna Skrypova.
Small things make a big difference. A carrier, access to water, familiar objects, and staying close to their owners help animals cope with the journey. A carrier provides a more comfortable space where the animal can relax and adapt to new conditions.
We are grateful to Pethouse for donating 200 cardboard carriers to transit centers in Kharkiv, Lozova, Pavlohrad, Zaporizhzhia, and Voloske. This is not the first time Pethouse has supported evacuations, helping families ensure their pets travel safely and comfortably. Thanks to this, families can leave danger together, and pets can feel a little more secure during the journey.

We encourage everyone considering evacuation not to leave their pets behind. Our crews help people with limited mobility to evacuate with their pets and support families along the way to safety.
Register for evacuation Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Call: 0 800 332 614.
