684 Lives Saved in 6 Photos: East SOS Evacuation Missions Supported by ECHO
Autumn and the approaching winter at the frontline pose serious challenges for saving lives.
Shelling of frontline towns and villages by the occupying forces continues to intensify, destroying infrastructure and targeting residential areas. People are deprived of essential resources – heat, water, electricity, and basic necessities. In these conditions, evacuation is often the only way to survive.
From November to October 2025, East SOS crews evacuated 684 people from frontline towns and villages in the Donetsk region, including Druzhkivka, Sloviansk, Novoiverske, Drobysheve, Novodonetsk, Kramatorsk, and Iverske. Our teams also rescued people from Shakhtarske, Chaplyno, Pokrovske, Andriivka, Bratske, Novotroitske, Prosiana, and Ostapivske in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
At the transit center, we provided additional support – assisting with logistics to hospitals, banks, and government agencies, helping restore lost documents, applying for social benefits, and organizing transfers to temporary accommodation. A total of 359 people received this vital support.
“Evacuees arrive exhausted – from cold homes, without heating, and under constant stress. Many need medical attention or must resolve essential issues such as restoring documents, applying for social benefits, or accessing banking services. This is especially critical for people with limited mobility, so we provide individualized support for each person and carefully plan their onward accommodation. People need clarity about the next steps of evacuation – for many, this is the first time they have ever left their homes. It’s a major challenge, particularly for those who struggle to move independently,” noted Ivan Saverskyi, Evacuation Logistics Specialist at East SOS.
Take a look at six heartwarming photos from our evacuation missions – each one captures someone’s story of rescue and hope.

We provide a full, free evacuation cycle – from departure to safe resettlement. Our team accompanies people throughout the entire journey: helping them find shelter, restore lost documents, access social benefits, or receive necessary medical care.
