Our Team

Our 24-member team was formed in response to the full-scale Russian invasion. Today, we ensure a full evacuation cycle—from processing applications to providing safe and dignified conditions. We evacuate everyone, including people with limited mobility and disabilities, older adults and large families, and pet owners.

Our team processes requests daily, with frequency depending on the frontline situation. We operate in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipro, and Sumy regions. Our vacuations are both centralized and targeted.

We assist with temporary housing, document restoration, and medical care.

Additionally, we help find long-term accommodation in decent conditions, both in Ukraine and abroad.

History

2022

East SOS established the evacuation program, conducting targeted and centralized evacuations from frontline areas. The teams rescued individuals with disabilities, families with children, single people, and those evacuating with pets.

2023

Since June, the East SOS team has been regularly assisting Ukrainians near the checkpoint in the Sumy region, which borders Russia. This checkpoint serves as the only humanitarian corridor from the temporarily occupied territories to government-controlled areas.

The foundation’s teams have rescued over 80,000 people from frontline and de-occupied territories, including more than 10,000 individuals with disabilities and limited mobility.

2024 -дотепер

Our evacuation teams continued rescuing people leaving the temporarily occupied territories, assisting those with limited mobility and disabilities to escape danger.

Canadian photographer Madison Tuff documented a day in the life of an evacuation worker for the foundation.

The 20-minute documentary, “A House Fell Out of the Chain” about East SOS’s evacuation efforts, created by Oleksandra Mala and Kateryna Nikitenko, won the Grand Prix in the “Film Works” category at the XXI All-Ukrainian Photo and Film Festival “Autumn Colors of Bukovyna – 2024.” The film sheds light on the evacuation of people with disabilities and limited mobility from the frontline areas, capturing the intricate challenges of war.

Please don’t hesitate to call the call center to save your life. Over the past few years, we have rescued large families, people with disabilities, older adults, and pet owners from danger. Rescue is our priority. We never leave anyone behind. We assist single individuals with disabilities in finding accommodation in shelters, refuges, and geriatric centers.
