According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, in June 2025, the number of victims of russian aggression reached its highest level, increasing by 54% compared to 2024.

The enemy continues to commit hundreds of war crimes on Ukrainian territory, targeting humanitarian missions, including medical personnel, volunteers, police officers, rescuers, and activists who risk their lives to help others. FPV drone attacks pose a particularly serious threat to these frontline responders. In such conditions, the ability to provide prompt and effective first aid becomes critical. That’s why the East SOS Charity Foundation, as part of the TERA consortium, organized a two-day training course titled “First Aid in Emergencies and War Conditions.”

The main goal of the course is to equip humanitarian workers with the skills to deliver life-saving assistance quickly and correctly. Trainings held in Kharkiv and Dnipro were led by professional instructors from First Aid Courses CAB.

Every minute counts in emergency situations. It’s crucial to act precisely—stop the bleeding, check airway patency, and ensure breathing. A properly applied tourniquet or wound tamponade can save lives.

emphasized trainer Hryhorii Matsyshyn

A total of 44 representatives from public and charitable organizations took part in the training, including Volunteer 68, East SOS, Kharkiv Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, CFSR Source of Revival, Ukrainian Borders, Piatykhatky BAM, Solidarités International, Light of Culture, Strong Because Free, Base UA, and TEAM4UA.

We provide evacuations and visit sites after attacks. The skills we’ve gained will be useful. It was incredibly valuable to practice real-life scenarios and train under stress.

said Andrii Shevchenko, a representative of the Emergency Response Unit of the Red Cross Society

The training also served as a platform for networking and sharing experience. In Dnipro, the session was held at Community Studio, a free space for humanitarian workers, volunteers, and local initiatives. Team4UA created the venue as part of the TERA Consortium with the support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF).

We aim to unite efforts to help everyone save lives in times of war. This is a contribution to common security and resilience.

said Inna Diakhtiarenko, manager of the TERA Consortium at East SOS

The training sessions were conducted within the framework of the project “Provision of Emergency Assistance and Evacuation Support”, initiated by the TERA Consortium, which brings together the charitable foundations Team4UA, East SOS, Angels of Salvation, and the Humanitarian Coordination Center.
