Let’s Expose Some Fakes About Evacuation Spread by the Enemy

russia is trying to intimidate Ukrainians not only through shelling but also through information warfare. Disinformation is spreading in frontline and temporarily occupied territories, undermining trust in the Ukrainian government and humanitarian organizations.
During the Armed with Facts program on Hromadske Radio, Vladyslav Poyansky, East SOS evacuation specialist, exposed some fakes used by russian propaganda to instill fear.
The enemy seeks to capture settlements with civilians still in them. Once under occupation, these people will be forced to obtain russian passports, while children and young people will be deported and militarized.
SOME COMMON FAKES ABOUT EVACUATION:
- “Evacuated people are sold for organs.”
This is one of the most common fakes that russians intentionally spread on social media and local chat groups. Vladyslav Poyansky emphasized that these rumors have no basis in reality and are used to intimidate people. - “People are left on their own after evacuation.”
russian propaganda claims that people are abandoned for weeks in transit centers. “In reality,” says Vladyslav, “after evacuating from frontline areas, we help people reach transit centers, where they receive legal, social, and psychological support. Our specialists then assist in finding further accommodation.”
In addition, evacuees are redirected within the state settlement system from transit centers.
- “Children are “taken away’’ or “sold’’ during evacuation.”
After the introduction of the mandatory evacuation procedure, where children are evacuated along with their parents or other legal guardians, russian propaganda started spreading rumors that children are “taken” or “sold.” These stories are aimed at sowing distrust and convincing people that the decisions made by state authorities are allegedly dangerous. Evacuation helps save the lives of children who may remain in danger for a long time due to their family’s decisions.
