“I’m starving… I haven’t eaten for three days” – evacuation from Chasiv Yar
“I’m starving… I haven’t eaten for three days”, Yevhen said tiredly at the train station in Dnipro. The man is 80 years old, and he is visually impaired.
The evacuation crew of the Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation evacuated Yevhen from Chasiv Yar. His flat on the fifth floor was destroyed by a russian missile. Concerned people permanently moved him to another flat but later the russians hit that building as well.
Yevhen’s room was messy and dirty. The man was exhausted. He obviously hadn’t eaten for a long time and hadn’t had a chance to take a shower. The evacuation team suspects that the man suffers from concussion: he does not keep his balance, cannot move independently, and speaks with difficulty. Yevhen’s body is cut by shrapnel; his legs are affected the most.
The Foundation’s team brought Yevhen to the Center for Temporary Shelter for People with Disabilities from the war zone and frontline areas. There, he was immediately offered food and a bath, and he asked for food first as he was starving.
Now Yevhen is in the hospital. We are looking for a shelter for further accommodation of the man, where he will receive medical care and attention.
