The Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation provides shelter for evacuees with limited mobility. One of them is the Center for People with Disabilities in Dnipro, adapted for 50 people.

Employees know each of the stories, and one of them is about Tetiana Kostiantynivna, who is called a star.

The woman is from the village of New York in the Donetsk region. The Foundation’s team evacuated her on November 2 from Toretsk. There she lived with her son and daughter-in-law and couldn’t leave her husband’s grave, home, and friends.

“I was exhausted; I hadn’t eaten anything for three weeks, I couldn’t walk, I just cried”, Tetiana said.

Her son filled out the application for evacuation. The Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation also helped Tetiana with accommodation in Dnipro, where she met her friend Oleksandra. Oleksandra is 71 years old, together with her grandson Vladyslav they were evacuated from Toretsk.

Tetiana and Oleksandra believe that they are soul mates. Their story is impressive.

“They planned to take me to Kropyvnytskyi but took me to Dnipro. It was fate that I met Oleksandra. I was walking along the corridor… I was thin, exhausted, and staggering. Suddenly Oleksandra stopped with a walker, shouting that we were from the same place. It turned out later that our lives are very similar, but we met only here”, says Tetiana.

In the evenings, the women listen to classical music, especially Paul Mauriat. They also told us about the fashion show they organized in the center.

“You should have seen it. I was shy, but she gave me a piece of clothing and asked me to walk back and forth”, the woman remembered with a smile.

Tetiana Kostiantynivna, who had two broken arms, even wrote a poem about her life in the center from the first day.

“When I arrived here and met Oleksandra Mykolaivna, I felt that I had the strength to live because she had become my wings”, said Tetiana.

Evacuation is the best solution that saves the lives of thousands of people in the frontline areas.
