Evacuation Summer by East SOS: Three Months of Rescue

News
01.10.2025

June, July, and August became months of nonstop evacuations from the frontline in the Donetsk region. Under the devastating fire of the russian army, hundreds of people were forced to flee their homes to escape the war.

Our evacuation crews worked daily to save lives. Most missions took place in Dobropillia, Novodonetske, Druzhkivka, Bilozerske, Sviatohirsk, and Kramatorsk. We also carried out evacuations under fire in the Dnipropetrovsk region, including the villages of Bratske, Andriivka, Herasymivka, Oleksandrivka, and others. We actively cooperated with the White Angel police special unit, which provided armored vehicles to help people safely leave Kostiantynivka.

The results of our missions include: 1,890 people evacuated in three months, 993 of them (almost half) were aged 50+, and every second person rescued from shelling was someone for whom starting a new life from scratch is especially difficult.

560 people with limited mobility – those who couldn’t walk down the stairs or reach the car without help. Each of them needed not just evacuation but support in organizing their own rescue.

“At the transit point in Pavlohrad, our teams provided additional assistance, helping relatives reunite and board evacuation trains, finding accommodation for single evacuees, accompanying people to hospitals, banks, and institutions to get documents and social benefits. For most of us, these are everyday things. But for people under stress, with disabilities, or for the elderly, it is a huge challenge. Almost 500 people have received such support,” – Ivan Saverskyi, Evacuation Logistics Specialist at East SOS.
