East SOS Has Evacuated Over 3,200 People from the Frontline Dnipropetrovsk Region in 11 Months
Destroyed homes, shelled roads, closed schools, and damaged outpatient clinics – this is the reality for many frontline communities in the Dnipropetrovsk region today. The russian army continues to target civilian infrastructure, and the security situation in the region is rapidly deteriorating.
Over the past year, the number of evacuation missions carried out by East SOS has increased significantly. Despite the constant threat of artillery shelling and targeted FPV drone attacks, evacuation teams depart daily to transport people to safer areas. Many residents delay evacuation until the very last moment, putting both themselves and the rescuers – who continue risking their lives to save others – in danger.
Over 11 months, East SOS evacuation crews rescued 3,265 people in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Evacuations were carried out from the following settlements: Nikopol, Marhanets, Mezhova, Shakhtarske, Pokrovske, Prosiana, Chaplyne, Danylivka, Vesele, Oleksandrivka, Andriivka, Novotroitske, and Ostapivske.
“The situation in the region is changing rapidly. The threat from drones is increasing, and people often hesitate to leave until the very last moment. There is still fear that after evacuation they will be left without support. That is why our foundation provides a comprehensive evacuation cycle – from the first request to resettlement and continued assistance,” explains Yevhen Poianskyi, Evacuation Worker at East SOS.

In its monitoring report, East SOS highlighted a significant increase in shelling across communities in the Synelnykove district, the expansion of FPV drone strike zones, and restricted or impossible access for humanitarian teams to certain settlements. In the most critical communities, most of the population has already been evacuated. However, elderly people and individuals with disabilities remain who require constant support.
The evacuation of civilians is carried out by East SOS within the frameworks of “Protection and Support to Vulnerable Communities in Eastern Ukraine: Multisectoral Humanitarian Aid and Preparedness”, supported by ActionAid and funded by the European Commission for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) and “Comprehensive Support and Protection of Vulnerable Categories of Evacuees”, implemented by East SOS with financial support from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF).
Previously, East SOS published a monitoring report on the humanitarian situation in 16 communities of the Synelnykove district, Dnipropetrovsk region.
