Improving Living Conditions in the Previously Repaired Care Facilities

The East SOS Charity Foundation has delivered 35 tons of sawdust fuel briquettes to heat a residential care facility in the village of Kolyndiany (Ternopil region). Currently, 53 elderly and disabled people live here – all of them were evacuated by East SOS crews from towns and villages destroyed or constantly shelled by the russian army.

In 2025, the Reconstruction Team of the foundation renovated and equipped this shelter based on the local territorial center for social services. With the heating season approaching – and as elderly residents often feel cold even in autumn – the foundation made sure the facility is warm, comfortable, and safe. The donated briquettes will provide stable heat throughout the winter, allowing the care home to begin the heating season without difficulty.

“Sawdust fuel briquettes are an efficient and eco-friendly source of heat. Made from wood waste, they burn longer than regular firewood and emit less smoke, making them safe for people and the environment,” – Svitlana Agadzhanian, Partnership Manager at East SOS.

This initiative is another step towards ensuring that people who have lost their homes feel cared for, supported, and confident about the future.

The aid was delivered as part of the project “Improving living conditions in facilities for internally displaced persons affected by the conflict,” implemented by East SOS in cooperation with ActionAid and funded by the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC).

Recently, East SOS donated materials worth over UAH 1,180,000 to help restore heat supply in homes in Izium.
