At the end of November, Yevheniia Tkachuk and Oksana Kuiantseva, Board Members of the East SOS Charity Foundation, participated in the social sustainability forum “Before. During. After,” held at the Baobab Community Center in Lublin, Poland. The event brought together around 100 participants, including crisis response experts, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and local authorities.

The forum was organized by Homo Faber, the organization that coordinates Baobab – an integration space for people with migration experience.

Yevheniia Tkachuk and Oksana Kuiantseva participated in a panel discussion, where they shared the experience of Ukrainian civil society organizations in providing humanitarian assistance to civilians during the full-scale invasion. The speakers emphasized that Ukraine’s ongoing experience represents a critical lesson for European countries in preparing for potential armed aggression by russia.

During the discussion, Yevheniia Tkachuk highlighted East SOS’s practical experience in developing and advocating for a comprehensive evacuation cycle. Oksana Kuiantseva focused on the importance of communication resilience and the documentation of alleged war crimes as essential steps toward justice and accountability for perpetrators.

“The forum, organized by Homo Faber, is an excellent example of how Polish local NGOs can unite and build horizontal cooperation, which becomes the foundation for effective support to affected populations in the context of emergency response – whether to natural disasters or armed conflict. During the forum, we shared Ukraine’s experience gained over 11 years of war, particularly best practices in localizing humanitarian response,” emphasized Oksana Kuiantseva.

The event also included a practical simulation exercise designed to develop algorithms for cooperation among representatives of local authorities, non-governmental organizations, the media, and citizens in emergency situations.

As part of the forum, East SOS presented the photo exhibition “Chronicles of Evacuation,” showcasing the work of the foundation’s evacuation teams in Dnipro, Pokrovsk, Kramatorsk, Bakhmut, Kherson, and other frontline cities. The exhibition brings together photographs by Ukrainian and international photographers taken between May 2022 and 2025.

In the summer, East SOS joined the discussion on the role of human capital in Ukraine’s recovery at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.
