Assistance to victims of the russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (Kherson region)
On June 6, 2023, the actions of the russian representatives stunned the world: the occupation forces blew up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. The terrorist attack caused the largest man-made disaster in Europe in recent decades.
On June 7, as of 3 PM, there were 20 flooded settlements in the region, and the evacuation began.
Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation has been helping the victims since the first hours of the tragedy. 4 evacuation crews are rescuing people with limited mobility and people with disabilities and helping them get to safer areas.
The Foundation’s psychosocial support group meets evacuees at the Mykolaiv railway station every day and provides psychological and legal assistance.
In addition, we have made the first purchases for the residents of the Kherson region in cooperation with international donors Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe and Libereco by the victims’ requests: water, equipment for shelter, dry pet food, etc.
For the needs of the State Emergency Service rescuers, we purchased inflatable motor boats, fishing boots, and overalls.
On June 7, a truck with food sets left Dnipro for Mykolaiv. The sets contain ready-made food and fast food.
Every day we receive humanitarian requests from communities and civilians. Thanks to your support and donations, we continue to help Ukrainians affected by the occupiers’ actions.
