Providing Socially Vulnerable Populations with Heating Means for the Winter Period

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia, the dormitory of the Khomutets vocational college of Poltava State Agrarian University has provided shelter to 70 IDPs from the Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Currently, the college offers minimal living conditions for IDPs.

Last autumn and winter, the situation was complicated by numerous enemy missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Frequent power outages caused the dormitory’s heating system to shut down, which meant the room temperature did not always reach +14°C. The college staff worked hard to find and prepare wood for heating.

This year, in March, the Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation donated 300 cubic meters of firewood to the shelter through representatives of the NGO “Studio of Women’s Initiatives”.

The goods were purchased as part of the project “Providing socially vulnerable people with heaters for the winter period” with the support of the TIDES Foundation.
