«East SOS» Seeks Sustainable Funding for Civilian Evacuation

Since 2022, the dedicated team at the “East SOS” Charitable Foundation has been evacuating people from frontline and de-occupied areas on a daily basis. Over 86,000 individuals have been rescued, including more than 11,200 with limited mobility. Our crews possess practical experience in evacuating under escalating security conditions and continually enhance their skills. Our operations cover Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Sumy regions.

We offer a comprehensive evacuation process – from receiving requests at our call center to providing information on permanent housing options, and finding new homes for people with disabilities and those with limited mobility. This process also includes restoring documents, processing payments, organizing medical care and support, providing legal and psychological assistance, etc.

“East SOS” is always among the first responders in emergency situations, such as the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station by russian forces or escalations in Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, or Toretsk. This is made possible by our well-coordinated team, collaboration with local authorities, protection services, and our partner network. Together, we rescue everyone: the elderly, large families, those with limited mobility, pet owners, and parents with children. Moreover, we engage proactively in coordination hubs and round table discussions, driving initiatives to enhance awareness and rescue operations in Ukraine.

The currently implemented evacuation projects have a short-term perspective. However, such assistance remains critical as people consistently need rescue amid ongoing war, de-occupation, etc.

“In the summer of 2022, the railway station in Dnipro was bustling with volunteers, and there was a mother-and-child room serving as a transit shelter where people could sleep, eat, and receive help or advice. Now, it’s just our team and occasionally quick response squads,” commented Olga Vladimirova, “East SOS” CF Coordinator.

On behalf of the foundation, we appeal to international partners, donors, and benefactors for sustainable funding to ensure the continuous operation of our crews and specialists who accompany evacuees. Let’s save lives together!

We also sincerely thank our reliable partners – USAID, the European Union, Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe, Peace Winds Japan, Solidar Suisse, and Libereco – whose support makes these evacuations possible amid the full-scale war.
