Analytic
30.06.2023

On June 30, 2023, the Vostok SOS Charitable Foundation team released a report on the aftermath of the Kakhovka dam’s explosion caused by the russian occupiers.

From the very first day, the Foundation’s team has been present at the site of the tragedy, actively responding to the victims’ requests through our hotline. Collaborating closely with the State Emergency Service, dedicated volunteers, and representatives from various NGOs, we have provided crucial humanitarian aid, including water supply, organized the distribution of hot meals, and successfully evacuated individuals from the flooded area.

The devastating consequences of the Russian terrorist attack have affected the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions and extended to the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Our monitoring mission’s findings offer a comprehensive overview of the current situation, the initial days following the tragedy, as well as the environmental and economic impacts.

The report delves into various aspects, such as changes in rescue operations, coordination efforts with organizations and volunteers, the challenges faced during the evacuation process, the inaction of the occupation authorities, and the persecution endured by the residents in the left-bank Kherson region. Furthermore, it sheds light on the fatal consequences of the flooding and exposes russia’s terrorist intentions.

We would like to express our gratitude for the financial support provided by the European Union as part of the project “Support to War-Affected Vulnerable Populations and Residents of Remote Areas of Ukraine.” However, we must clarify that the content of this publication solely represents the views of Vostok SOS and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the European Union.
